David

And you thought you were going to harpoon the whale. Instead the whale yanked you along with your harpoon and all of your passengers (including me) into its wake.

Did the whale finally let go of you. Or is the whale letting you out of the water just long enough to get more passengers ??

All I need is a mini-BK. Already have some things moving my way. Sure looks like a lot of momentum to get a reversal now though. I say if it doesn't start by 10 or 11 tomorrow it's back to the charts, eh?

This sure has been a lot of fun. If I didn't have some trading positions prior to all this BK stuff, I would just be giggling, but I was slow to unload some of those prior positions -- now it's a little more than entertainment -- I wish that your positions do real well, David. If not, I guess there'll be another wave ...

David, thanks for the update. I hope you are right. If you are I'll quickly buy back my puts.

However, I have a different opinion of the wave count now than you. And I hope that this difference of opinion will be healthy and remove the aura of hype that some readers attribute to EW analysis.

I think we are presently in wave 4 of C which may end tomorrow morning with a flat or a little dip, leading to 5 of C. Wave C started at the 1pm low yesterday. It is part of a,b,c formation of a greater corrective wave B which started at the April 8th low. This April 8th low was the termination of wave A which started at the high of April 6 and subdivided into five waves.

This greater corrective wave B should end in two to four days and lead to wave C down, which should subdivide into five waves and reach your targets suggested earlier. This would end corrective wave IV from the April 6 high and lead to (the final?) bull leg wave V.

Anyone interested in learning a little about EW can compare these two scenarios as time passes and make their own judgement. However they are the same in one essential aspect, and that is they suppose this is a correction in the bullish trend and not the end of the bullish trend.

FWIW

Hi David,

Re: "Both A & C's internal 5 wave patterns contained extensions, which extended the duration immensely. "

If those waves were extended does that push out the timeframe for your whole scenario to play out? If so, how far?

Arggghh!

I still have 3 harpoons set from Thursday. Holding April DJX 89s, but not much rope left. Anyone else hunting the Great White Dow? Overbloated, smelly beast.

There's been some rough sailing -- I sense a change in the wind, maybe we get some gales to our backs for the remainder of the week.

The Whale Strikes Back!

I don't count waves, but I do study charts, and the charts I look at are telling me something completely different.

Hello Dow 10,000

We should reach Dow 10K within the next 3 months. That would take us up the upper range of the Dow's trend channel going back 4 years, and also to the top of another trend channel tracing back 2 years. The broad markets confirm this, and the utilities confirm, no divergences have arisen as yet.

Well David

Options expiration day is over.
You miscounted the waves.
You probably lost money.
You probably are feeling quite a few emotions right now.

You stuck your neck out to the maximum and are to be commended for that.

I hope you will come back to the thread soon with a read or without a read. And hey...just blow off anyone that taunts you that you were wrong. Let them call the market with specifics.

This is one crazy market....cant even get a normal good correction...

the one thing I learned from this is that Elliot Wave analysis is too darn complicated for me to even understand..let alone try to read.

Btw, Thursday I had the 5 day trin at 4.02. I have seen discrepencies in quotes on the trin..and so I have been watching anything under 4.05 to see if it brings a downdraft. Sure enough..Thursday it did. I have you and Bearshark to thank for that little indicator!

btw2, if you have access you might want to add money flow to your list of indicators. A friend of mine watches the moneyflow on the SPX and has seen that the moneyflow can show negativity right now..but doesnt mean the market will go down in any significant way (even though under "normal" conditions it would)...but it sure doesnt go down without the negative block money flow

David, I think that the key here is the McClellan Summation Slamation
