Anyone hear of what's going on @ Upshot? Sounds like a hot little company according to my sources.

Three cheers for Siebel. I am betting that they will have another great quarter. Last quarter, they did not need to post $42 million in revenues to sustain their valuation. The fact that they posted such a blow-out suggests that they have lots more revenue "in reserve."

Compared to Vantive, Siebel trades at a very favorable valuation. Both companies are trading at 50 to 60x 1998 earnings ("whisper" estimates of $.50 for Siebel and $.80 for Vantive). Meanwhile, Siebel's top line growth is blowing away anybody else.

TD, I agree that the merger presents some major challenges. But it almost doesn't matter. At this rate, Siebel could blow away the Scopus product line, use the best Scopus personnel to rebuild and sell their support offering, and continue to deliver impressive results for the next several quarters. Siebel & co. have been doing a great job and I'm betting these folks can keep it up.
