Some stocks are marginable at $5. Others are marginable at less.

It depends on your brokerage. E trade requires $5, Paine Webber only requires $4. Remember, not all stocks are marginable regardless of their price.

I believe the Fed or SEC must make the determination that a stock is marginable, at least that is what E trade told me when I tried to use leverage from a small stock that had recently risen to $5.

Check it out before you count on marginability
