Rob - some thoughts
RNWK is dealing with some major pipe problems for the average customer. Anything they can do in these consortiums of major players will help their own image. It would provide a different kind of awareness and marketing, but would get them moving with the big boys.

Also, if they could get the internet2 consortium to begin using RNWK products for medical applications, educational applications, scientific applications, that would help. Internet2 provides the pipes, but what are the new applications that come to life because of it. Internet2 is about speed but it's also about bringing more knowledge, and commerce to everyone. Right now RNWK seems to be viewed as entertainment, but their medium could be leveraged across all industries. Somehow they've got to show a really broad appeal in all the things that is making the internet the central to more peoples lives. They've got the technology, but they've got to get people seeing the technology as part their communications solutions. It's the old idea of 'crossing the chasm', from technolgoy to customer focus and showing solutions to business problems and communication challenges.

And it's got to be easy, easy, easy. Right now it's easy for most of us to use the playback technology, but how about changing the paradigm. Sorta like making home videos. Once upon a time we just went to the movies, then someone said you can create your own movies. Somehow getting the technology out of the info-geek realm and into the hands of larger consumer audience. Capture, and set-up easy enough for administrative assistants, or the guy next door. If you've got a PC you can easily set-up the information you want to share. You don't need a DP department to handle it. Maybe they should team up with Kodak (folks can put their pictures on web to share with family and friends). Realnetworks could allow families to share video on the web, you know those cute views of 'baby' as he's 2 mos, 2 yrs, or Joey's first ..... whatever.

Some additional ideas:
-major conferences would always have keynote speakers recorded for video (PC playback). I can't go to all of these but some are really important and I'd like to be able to hear the thought leaders of today (on demand). This could be used more in all industries: technical, financial, medical.

-universities profs could record lectures for playback at anytime

-get the technology and solutions into the schools. It's our kids that will be driving the institutionalization of all this.

OK enough rambling.

Here's how I see it. Analyst back companies that can show growth potential. In the internet it's traffic and 'eye balls' (not to mention plain ol $$). In software it's license/package purchases. Is RNWK money coming from traffic or software sales? Software sales. How do you sell more software? Create a need and/or show that you've got the solution. They seem to be working on both, but it's got to grow exponentially. It wouldn't hurt to have some coat-tails to ride on for awhile, if 'I2' could be leveraged.

Maybe they've been thinking about all these things. I'm hoping they'll have some good news for their earnings report due 4/20.

regards,
Laura

Jay,

I was watching this stock since IPO, on and off.
A few weeks ago I thought I'll wait for it to do it's $2.00 down cycle
to $14+ before I buy. Then I blinked and it was in $20+. I blinked again and it was 30+. I did not have a chance to blink before it got to nearly $40.00.

So I got myself a bargain @$35. I will accumulate on the way down, since this stock will be a bargain a few months from now.
At this time however, it does need a reprieve, as do those followers
of Inet stocks who need to close their eyes once in a while.

I am sorry to see RNWK just sit there this week. Just got their product and am having hard time using it- even have the PLUS version ! Any body care to help. I do still like the concept & therefore the stock. Wish I could figure out how & where and when to apply it.
