Can you simply clip the higher frequencies associated with the discontinuities (such as a 50 point moving Hamming window on 5 minute data). Also regression may give the dominant wave but not it's subwaves or their strength I believe.

I thought you just buy low and sell high, or buy high and sell low. What"s all this about furriers and mink stoles??

Seriously-no way can Fourier Analysis be a reliable predictor-it is taking technical analysis out of its equity realm and into the real world of waves. Why should a stock's movement act like a repeating wave?

Think I will stick with the former idea-buy low, etc.
