You know, I just came across Westcastle tonight when I was going down the Globe stock tables looking at distribution vs. current Unit Price.

It stuck out at $1.10 against an April 13th Unit Price of only $5.50 for a full 20% yield.

When someone is looking at buying into one of the Trusts, the key is (for me at least) low-to-reasonable price $5.00 - $8.00 (to make it easy to buy 1000 shares and maximize that $29 trade fee), a good yield of at least 15%, and a knowledge about their reserves so you're not buying a dog.

So, tell us more about Westcastle. You said it was throwing off .20 cents per quarter but at $1.10 it must have paid a year-end top-up. Correct?

I knew I had a Westcastle reference in the files somewhere.

Go to Kerm's Korner - the thread where Kerm reports on all energy, oil, gas, pipeline, etc. mergers, annual reports, etc.

At Kerm's message #9690 is his March 21st report on Westcastle's 1998 1st Q. distribution.

If you can believe the management, they are doing everything in their power to reduce costs and maximize share value while struggling with $7 less per barrel than forecast (I'm assuming).

Another one to watch is Orion, OET.IR, whose 2nd instalment is due June 28th but whose value has fallen thru the floor at less than $3.00. I think this is one of those Trusts which could be volatile just before the 2nd instalment due. Your opinion?!
