to my best understanding 1st call take average of all estimates. It is very often that analysts do not revise their original estimates for one reason or another and that might through off the average as well. 1st call publishes revision dates as well as justifications for revision. It is very often that the best estimate is not the 1st call average but the average of the select number of analysts selected by date and by available data that was considered.

Every report I have read says Intel beat the estimates by 9 cents here is one:

Also, for a company like Intel, who cares about the last quarter? The company says second half looks good and people by this stockas long as they are said next year looks good
