Yes your right and I'm probably reading to much into the broker's comment tonight. (I bought a few days ago -- the open interest was not a factor.)

The large open interest *will* make a difference to the extent that the call writer wrote *uncovered* (or naked - without owning the underlying security) calls. Then, like short sellers, they *must* buy stock (before Friday?) in order to deliver shares.

Short sellers, unless caught in a squeeze, can take their time to cover.
