Re: Internet Stocks, An Idea (maybe)

Everyone agrees that Internet stocks are way overvalued but they keep going up. Trying to pick out a single stock has been fruitless.

CMGI is a company that has most of its value tied up with investments in Internet companies. I recently read a report on this but for the life of me I cannot now find it.

A few statistics:

P/S 10, market cap $900M, last yr. price range 10 to mid 80's, sales $84m, net income -$18m.

The report that I cannot find listed all the companies they have a big equity stake via venture investments. If these companies start to drop in stock price, CMGI will drop like a rock.

If anyone has it or can find it I would appreciate it. I shall keep looking.

Does anyone think that when this Internet mania begins to drop off, will CMGI become an excellent Internet proxy and a good short candidate instead of trying to pick the "best Internet shorts?"
