plans to sell
equity to raise
US$4 billion

APRIL 15, 1998 - Samsung Group plans to
attract about U$4 billion of foreign capital this
year to finance its investment projects, as well as
improve its financial structure, group officials
said April 14.

In particular, Samsung needs the money to carry
out its investment projects, such as completion
of overseas semiconductor plants.

Samsung intends to draw the foreign capital by
selling equities of its core affiliated companies,
such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display
Devices, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and
Samsung Life Insurance, to foreign investors.

The officials said that the group would negotiate
with foreign companies such as Goldman, Sachs
& Co., Intel and Ford Motors for equity
