Bonnie, U.S. is health care...most of that cost is the skyrocketing cost of malpractice insurance passed along to the consumer, It's not so much the actual insurance, but the "virtual insurance" of docs covering their butts with a CAT scan for every ER patient with a headache. I am not exaggerating, and this is just a tiny fraction of the examples I could give you. Fantastic dollar amounts are involved here and it's largely not accountable as wasted money, because everyone has learned how to "justify" the $800 scan with the appropriate entries in the chart. So if you look for wasted money, you won't find it. Unless you ask a knowledgeable person "off the record". Jack
