You must be young. 82-84 was a period of significant deluge, when El Nino must have been aroused. Tahoe City had 12 foot snow banks that year (83) in April. Then prior was the 72-74 period and the 68-69 dumps. That was an unusually cold and deep year. I and some friends have recollections of things like the chairlifts at Dodge Ridge becoming surface lifts, and for myself sliding down 12 foot tunnels to reach the front doors of cabins at Government Camp on the side of Mt Hood. In between the winters waned and memory scars of brown snow and skiing across straw cloud the memory.

The wild flowers should be exceptional this year because of the continuous drenchings. Over the next month or two, I'd bet a drive along Skyline would be thrilling or the back roads leading past Mt Hamilton.
