engineer, those are some super posts you're laying on us my man--keep them coming! You are hereby officially designated as SI Q thread Korean correspondent. The picture you described of a street full of wild and crazy phone stores selling like madmen at rock bottom prices stands in such remarkable contrast with the scene in Japan.
Re-read your prior post and particularly the single sentence regarding Japan's reversing inbound/outbound call frequencies "to protect their market". That sentence summarizes Japan's current economic swamp more elegantly than the volumes of b.s. I've been harping on. Competition is white hot in Korea, result: advanced technology, new features, low prices. Japan protects it markets, results: eight year economic slump, the Nikkei off 50% from 1990, and the highest consumer product prices in the world. The Ministry of Finance should pop for $125, subscribe to SI, and read your post engineer. Thank you. Mike Doyle
