Good morning Ken,

I have come to the conclusion that there are some people who are just down on Dell. It matters little what Dell does, they will always put a negative twist on the news. Of course, the converse is there also. I'm sure that there are some among us who put a positive spin on everything that Dell does. The problem is that those folks are still anonymous because there has been precious little negative stuff coming out of Dell.

Take Jim Patterson as an example. Here is a fellow who thinks that if a company chooses to borrow money to buy its stock this is negative because it has to pay interest, and besides it shows that there are no good business opportunities to invest the money in. Now, if that same company chose to discontinue purchasing its own stock, that would be negative because that would mean it felt that its stock were overvalued. Of course, if it used the money to buy another company, well, that would be negative because it obviously means that the company is bankrupt of ideas, is frightened of the competition and is forced to buy market share. Of course, if the company used the money to expand its plants, well that would be negative because it would be incurring so much fixed cost in uncertain times, and besides which, the competition has such a head start that the company will never catch up. Of course, if it decided not to borrow money at all, well that would be negative also because itr means that there are no opportunities out there.

And of course, if that company were named Dell, well, that would be negative because Dell is a four letter word.

So, I think we should number these negative arguments, and instead of endless postings Jim could just say, for example, 12.

TTFN,
CTC
