Rank Speculation...

* SEEK's purchase of online community, WBS, is a bit of a shot
across the NSCP bow: a reminder that SEEK can gather eyeballs
from other sources. I think this strengthens SEEK's bargaining
position vis a vis NSCP. Also, this community-building move
was long overdue. NSCP's Andreesen is on the cover of this week's
BW. I've yet to read the article.

* I find it very interesting that in the week run-up to earnings,
SEEK pops out with the WBS and UltraSeek announcements. My theory,
and its just that, is that we are being prepared for yet another
serious earnings surprise from an e-commerce player. And I don't
mean XCIT... though, of course, they're going to surprise the Street
tomorrow, I think.

* As TLindt just noted on the SI e-commerce thread (which, if I
may put in a plug, is a great place to hang out), he envisions
fat cats and kitties calling their investment advisors and saying,
"Buy me a 100k of a search engine... any search engine... I hear
tell that's where the serious money's going."

* Long ago, several of us speculated as to when serious institutional
buyers who DIDN'T get the full YHOO or AOL play would jump on our
little engine. I think SEEK has given them all the right signs,
not settling for being a "laggard". Now, we get to be a momentum
play. Cool, huh?

* On second thought, maybe I should go away AND come back more
often. Because today's a pretty nice welcome home package...

Best Regards, Fellow SEEKers,
