That's what I am saying. Although the companies have different business models, MSFT is moving from a software company to a media company. I know from your posts you are media savvy, and I am sure you see MSFT's move into media. If you were YHOO and were given the choice to take $30M to provide the directory service, or take 0 and get crushed anyway, what would you as a shareholder choose?

The reason that Spyglass sold its browser technology to Microsoft for "next to nothing" was because Netscape had taken over the browser market by giving away the Netscape Explorer. Spyglass found that it couldn't compete with Netscape's giveaway of the software for which Spyglass was charging.

Of course, Microsoft used Netscape's strategy to unseat Netscape.
