HB, What I get from my Japanese and Taiwanese pals could be as slanted as the stuff you get from an MU conference call. But they are telling me that the flows to the US from individual accounts are negligible. They reason that in their heart of hearts, most Japanese do not believe Americans can manage their own affairs well enough to invest in us.

However, I have a different take. I think the liberalization is too new and the obligation savers feel toward the "face" of their local banker is ingrained. I think this rock will move, but it will be erosion, not an earthquake. MB
