Chuzzelwit,

search engines pick up your name and reference what you have written on the SI threads. That frankly horrified me.

I guess I'm still a cyber-naif. What do you mean by search engines picking up your name, and why does it horrify you? Maybe I should be horrified too and am just too ignorant to know it.

Jack

Chuzzlewit,

Considering your experience at the hands of a fanatic pen-pal, you might be interested in my Anthology of Truly Offensive Posts. (Part Two -- Ideological Abuse -- may have special relevance to your case!) Links are in Post No. 1261 on this thread.

As for being picked up by a search engine, I don't mind that. In fact, I welcome it. But that's because I am a professional writer, and when you write for a living, you want people to read you, even if it's only on the internet. On the other hand, on S.I. I am not writing "as a professional," and I prefer to remain private (not anonymous). So I just use my initials, as in my e-mail address, rather than a true pseudonym.

Maybe we should run a contest for the best, wittiest pseudonym. "Chuzzlewit" is good. It's not just Dickensian; it also hints at the "scrambled-wits" state we often find ourselves in when dealing with the stock market. Or is that just me?
