Bob, not sure why the password would no longer work. However, keep in mind that Datek wants your password in two separate places - each is independant of the other.

1. To authentiate you to the web site. You supply your user ID and password in response to a popup prompt from your web browser. This must be done before Datek will let you gain access to any account information.

2. To validate each transaction, Datek puts your password (but not user ID) in each form submission.

If the asterisks were still there, not sure what could have happened, but behaviour could be different with different web browsers. The main thing to guard against is reloading the page - if you reload the page, your browser will generally clear the form, which means it will clear the password as well.

The other thing is to make sure that you have authenticated. I usually do a "Portfolio" when first using it in the morning, and this gives the authentication prompt and gets that out of the way.

One more possibility - if Datek restarts their web server, then their authentication cache will probably be lost, and you would have to re-authenticate.
