I just listened to the replay of the Seagate conference call, and they said "Fibre Channel seams to be picking up." They would not give analysts any specifics, and seemed very secretive about their customers' F.C. plans. I infer that F.C. had been slow (or non-existent?). wj

<< Which way? <g> >>

Craig,

I'm definitely in agreement on the significance of the BBs and the triangle pattern. One way to tackle the question is to combine channels with indicators.

Art posted recently in regard to the importance of MACD. I like MACD as a histogram, you get to see not only whether mass consensus is bullish or bearish but also whether it is getting stronger or weaker. In ANCR's case, there are some very positive things that have been going on with MACD that actually go back all the way to the moments of $41. Since ANCR hit that high the bearish sentiment associated with major pullbacks (6/96, 1/97, 10/97) has been decreasing. In other words the MACD histogram lows have been in an uptrend for the past two years while ANCR's price has retested lows... a bullish divergence.

More recently, MACD gave a buy signal when the MACD line crossed the trigger line on 4/2 around $7. Before that MACD gave a buy signal on the first trading day of the year in the $4s and a sell on 2/25 in low $8s. The MACD line is also about to rise over the zero line. The last time this occurred was 1/27 right after a tightening of the BBs, a symmetrical triangle and a decrease in volume, sound familiar? It also coincided with a rise above the 50 DMA. Next day began the run to $9.

Does any of this mean anything? Got me <g>. Current ANCR 50 DMA is $7 1/4, just in case <g>.

Either /\ or \/.

You make the call. Key dates as Alan pointed out are 10/97 and 1/98.
