Burt, Re: "Paul - check out the Celeron benchmarks. Much better than I was led to expect by the press."

The press just loves to spread FUD about Intel, don't they? If Intel didn't have more important things to do, they could bring a lot of individuals, or companies to court.

Best Regards,

Tony

Burt - Re: "check out the Celeron benchmarks. "

I did.

For Windows 95 applications - the "lower end", the Celeron is somewhat slower than a full blown Pentium MMX with 512K L2 cache.

If Intel sells this chip at a discount to the Pentium MMX/233, then they may have a good case for providing a better "Value proposition".

The Celeron outperforms the Pentium MMX/233 for Windows NT applications but that is a moot point. The target market for the Celeron IS NOT Windows NT users!
