I assume this a top notch consultant. Not always. And that "yearly salary" does not include benefits, pension, health care, bonuses, severance and other less apparent costs. Ususally consultants are hired because they are specialists in what a project involves, and because since most of these projects are finite, they don't have to fire someone at its completion. Compare it to renting or buying a car for a three month trip to Alaska. Both have their unique advantages that shift based on the duration or purpose of the trip. jas.
