John, Re: >"By "rolling" I was refering to moving your open position from one month out to a future month."<

I guess both terms apply. If I call my broker and say I want to do a "spread" he understands that to mean I want to sell to close one position and buy to open another position in a different month. AND either side of the trade will not take place until both buyer's and seller's are lined up and completed. A roll (which I know nothing about) may get the same results with different rules?

In any event I understand you were agreeing with the moving out of April to July position of the 500 contracts yesterday.
