OK... LIKE A LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER... BUT OH WELL.... just popped in to say... who does the market think its kidding... I sold the last of my IRA INTC this morning.... WHY.... because those results were horrible, and the new celery chip is going to make matters worse as it is a yester-tech solution for a fight intc has to lose... Margins will crumble... there's nothing like being behind the 8 ball to squish a margin... fancy getting into the commodity end of the business without the lastest and greatest... What r they thinking... HATE TO AGREE WITH ML's Fred Shellac... (Beacause I like to be a lone SLB trading wolf in a paddock of bulls)... but he's called this one right... u can sum up the intc view as troubled with no end in sight.... and this is really the point... there seems to be an idea on this thread and others that 1999 has got to be better for the semis... as it would be impossible to start the new millenium --- the digital age --- in recession... why... what in heavens name has a year plucked from oblivion by an event that might of might not have even happened got to do with anything... On the subject of our beloved amat... nice rally... got that old Dorsey Wright all perky, but it's built of nothing... Intc's $300m trim of capex is not important... but it is a taste of what's to come... and it'll cost Amat maybe $60m this year... but the point is that the raging bullocks of this thread want AMAT to be treated like a growth co, and afforded spectacular PE's, when its not growing... WHY... the dram biz is crap... and getting crapier... the cpu biz is crap... and getting cpq-er, and the capital spending biz is crap because of sea... personally I'd treasure the three points the market gave you and turn them into cash... u heard it here first (and again and again)... we will see 30 again this year...
