Technology Stocks : Winstar Comm. (WCII) -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

Dear James:

Only Greenberg knows what his response meant exactly, but:

a) ''Existing'' wires (phone/cable/electricity?) are
to be contrasted with ''new'' wires, such as passing through
optical fiber as discussed in my post yesterday. Also,
the existing wires tend to require reconditioning
(elimination of coils and bridge taps for phone wires, 2-way
activation for HFC). I would say that the qualifier ''existing''
might exclude reconditioning operations.

b) Wireless to the home though LMDS has lower capital
costs than phone-line reconditioning and HFC upgrade.

c) WCII has targeted primarily businesses up to this point,
so its services do not go ''to the home,'' they go ''to
the business.''

Final issue: do you know if Herb Greenberg knows anything
about broadband technology? If he does not, his entire
statement is nothing more than an educated guess.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy

WinStar's not really targeting residential customers, Jim.

jim, as far as i can tell, the guy's talking about using the existing wiring in the home to create a home network--e.g., child1 child2, spouse3. He thinks that's a good job to get..So what?? It has nothing to do with wcii, even if wcii was interested in pursuing residential customers. Plus, as you know, wcii customers are hard wired on site, so they could utilize such technology if they wish...You don't really believe the greenberg quote had anything to do with wcii--you were tweaking us all once again. Bravo Jim..
