I agree with you that a thinly traded stock would never get 1000 shares executed in one transaction. But, who said I trade the thin ones? IMO you would be better off putting a market order in for those types of stocks and take what you get. And then better hope that it doesn't come down as fast as they usually do because you will never get rid of all of them in one fill either....
