COMPAQ COMPUTER CORP expects to undergo one more quarter of
little or no profits as it completes a shift in its personal
computer business model, the company's CFO said. "We told
(analysts) it's (the 2Q) going to be roughly break-even," Compaq
CFO Earl Mason said. According to research tracking firm First
Call, analysts had expected Compaq to earn $0.09 per share in the
period. Mason said Compaq is also on track to achieve its goal of
slashing inventory levels of finished systems to a level of two to
four weeks of sales, depending on the product line. (Reuters 10:49
