In the words of the immortal J.C.

"May the Fleas of a thousand camels infest your arm pits." <g>

I feel like you guys are handing out giant BEAR hugs.

3/16 ths of profit taking is great after yesterdays run. I think yesterdays rumor was substantiated in my mind because of the analist's recommendations. The rumor alone might have moved the stock a couple of points but not over 5 points.

The speed with which we see formal substantiation of the ATT rumor will determine the amount of sideways motion. Even with a possible "Reining in" this stock has strong enough fundamentals to provide solid support while the weak in the market crumble.

I will go out on a limb and say to you we will not have to wait for the earnings in may for the next big jump. CIEN's technology is not as commoditized as Computers and associated equipment and therefore I think CIEN will sustain for at least the next 12 months. That takes us out into the end of 1Q99, when LU and the rest are able to compete for more of CIEN's Market share.

I don't know about you, but, a 4.6 billion market cap makes for one BIG Flea! <G>

Regards,

Milkman

P.S. You gotta love this volatility!

Joe --

I'm with you. I'd never compare CIEN to INTC --- one is on the leading edge of backbone fiber build-out and the other is over-extended in high-priced computer chips in a market shifting to low-priced products.

Yesterday's AT&T shut-down is a huge scream that the networks aren't holding up. Who's going to fix them????

I'm betting on CIEN and a selective list of other networkers.

Thanks for your good response.
