"And consider the average PC user that really only launches one app at a
time -- first Word, then Excel, and then their web browser. Having to
wait only 5 seconds instead of 10 for the app to launch is not worth an
extra $1000 for them. However when you launch apps 100 times a day like
some of us, it IS worth it, but I think we're in the minority"

Randy:

I disagree.
I am not what you would call a Power user.
I use Word, Excel, Explorer, MYM, ClarisEmailer, etc., at the same time, but my business is of trading textiles, hardly would you call it high tech oriented.
However, with the G3 266 I find I am much more efficient in my overall work; I think no one (with the resources, of course) can afford not to buy one if you try it. The desire is just too much.

My own opinion, of course,

Fernando

I think it matters to everyone, even using one application at a time; they just have to try it. Slower modems will also be faster with a G3.
