Jay - Re: "Why isn't Intel leveraging the new Slot 1 design to include 1 or 4 megs cache and then selling these as really high-end "super-server" chips? I forget what slot II is supposed to do...

Slot II will be targeted at mid/high level servers and workstations.

It will allow 512K, 1 Meg or 2 Meg FULL CPU SPEED L2 cache.

There should be two chip set options -

1. The 440GX - with 2 Gig Main Memory addressing and supporting up to two SLot II devices. This will be the Workstation configuration or 2 CPU Server configuration.

2. The 450NX - will support up to 4 Slot II devices in SMP mode )no AGP support, though). This will be the higher End Server Configuration.
