Literary license or abuse? Read this excerpt from Microsoft Investor today. Rambus (RMBS) declined 3 1/4 to 44 1/8, despite besting expectations by the slimmest of margins, reporting first-quarter earnings of 7 cents per share. The company reiterated a previous warning that second- and third-quarter earnings will disappoint. Hello? What earnings report did they read? This is unbelievable. They didn't beat earnings by the "slimmest of margins". They beat earnings estimates by 23%. They didn't say that the 2nd and 3rd quarter would "disappoint". They said that the 2nd quarter won't be a blowout. I don't recall them saying a damned thing about the 3rd quarter. But, I know they didn't say they would disappoint or in other words, miss. What is the deal with these ignorant people that write for the financial press? Do they need a college degree to get their jobs? I'm going to send this idiot a very nasty email. I'm sure that he would welcome lots of these.
