I disagree for they are not the same. It is a matter of interpretation. I do not see where the figs were of different species only those first ripen and those that were overly ripe and rotting. How can you bring in a horticulture scenario? I do not see that implied anywhere. The Jeremiah scripture is about people being figs and how they are viewed by the Lord based on their belief and actions. I do not see the Jewish slam within the scriptures.

Just my opinon. I never realized the bigotry against the Jews were so overwhelming. I am amazed to be honest with you.

2. Capri fig, looks exactly like the Smyrna fig but is inedible.the untrained eye cannot tell the difference between them until they bite into it. It is terribly bitter, and one bite can cause one to spit it out immediately.

Now that is totally absurd the words of the passage are obviously good vs bad because of appearance that clearly SEE they are clearly bad. Not the way they taste. That my friend is a twisitng of the words of the scripture.

REV 2:9 " i know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty.( but thou are rich) and i know the blasphemy of them that say they are jews, and are not,but are the synagogue of satan." This is one of the most misunderstood verses in the bible. My first question in trying to understand this is. Who are "them" ? JOHN 8-44 " ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. he was a murder from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie,he speaketh of his own: for he is a lair, and the father of it." This will take me to the first murder to find the cause. GEN 3:15 " and i will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall thy bruise head, and thou shalt bruise his heal." Satan now has a problem the word "enmity " means a fight. The womans seed is the seed christ will come from, satan will now attack the seed in an effort to destroy it before it destroys him. The first murder was the first attack. REV 2:9 has nothing to do with condeming jews it is a statement of the knowledge of satans attacks on the seed of the woman. Follow these attacks through the bible you will be amazed. This is what happened to the jews in the time of christ. ROMANS 11:7 "what then israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for ; but the election hath obtained it,and the rest were blinded." The jews were blinded by god. The jews did not reject christ they accepted him by the multitudes,as he went into jersalem they shouted save now, save now. But a sacrfice had to be made so god blinded them even his disciples were blinded peter is an example of this. ROMANS 11-11 " i say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? god forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 now if the fall of them be the riches the world ,and the diminishing of them riches of the gentiles; how much more their fulness." They will be saved this is a second witness in scripture. Read the scripture around these verses also.
