Hi, The reason is the pope and and others have spent a lifetime searching for the truth. They have found their truth, that there is a supreme being. If you could have an audience with them I am sure they would have compeling knowledge to share with you. As far as anyone being asked to defend their point of view on religion, it is no more than any other topic where one is asked to explain why they believe what they do. Is it just me or, GENERALLY speaking naysayers are defensive and believers are GENERALLY more willing to discuss the subject. We talk about morals and ethics, particular denominations aside, if we BEHAVED as is their were a god (God), we would all benefit of a more coexistent life on earth and sacrifice/forfeit absolutely zilch.
