In the 10-K under "Purchased technology in progress and restructuring costs," we find:

restructuring costs:
1995 1,465,000
1996 6,974,000

reduction of workforce:
1995 63 employees (6 upper management personnel)
1996 95 employees (7 upper management personnel)

With Xyplex, MRVC has bought a boatload of ore. The above shows that Noam & Co. can be expected to mine the nuggets and dump the rest. I don't think that the tail wags the dog at MRVC.

RE<<How is it that anyone can believe this is a good purchase>>
I think many have been stuck analyzing the product mix of this company and forget that one of the largest benefits is the integration of a US sales force. This will greatly enhance MRVC's abilities to compete in the local markets and hopefully will ultimately lead to at least 50% of revenue coming from the US.

greg

Hi Gary,
Have you ever visited MRVC facilities?
The company is the most frugal, closely financially managed company with a dollar I've ever seen. It's amazing. Management hasn't wasted a penny on anything that it doesn't believe contributes somehow to sales.
Shesshe! They still have the same original sign in front of their
facilities since they started. If any company can and has in the past
gotten the best out of it's buy outs, this company has.
If you are able, and fairly close by you ought to visit their facilities, if you already haven't.
