SLDRAM, at best, is an interim solution; it would not serve the needs of y2k and beyond. Just my 2 cents.

Please refer to earlier posts of this thread (the first 500s) which dealt with competitive landscape of Rambus technology.

PC manufacturers do not make product decisions based on DRAMs. The first thing they do is decide on a processor and a chip-set. All the major PC manufacturer's are now planning to bring out products based on Merced and its associated chip-set. So far Micron hasn't convinced Intel. That doesn't mean they never will, but so far they haven't. And I doubt that there is room in the market for two standards. Micron was also first to market with Burst-EDO, and they didn't sell any of those.

Remember these are only SAMPLES. When they start popping up in computers and INTC changes their mind, then we should start to worry.
