off topic Thanks, Bill. It's important to know this. I was hypothesizing that if they didn't honor the warranty and I wouldn't pay for the repair because I'd be fighting it in small claims court, that I wanted to be able to get the data back during the wait and that maybe I could send them a hard drive and demand they transfer the data to it for me. They have finally realized there wasn't even any switch in the boards and that the board that was in it was the board they put in it. Whew! What a nutty experience. I bet all the people who weren't nice to me about it are sorry. :-) Meanwhile, Apple is suffering from profit taking and I'm regretting that I bought some more calls first thing this morning... Linda
