stop hogging the computer and let your wife posts good sense.

I have been looking at the CPQ/DEC merger and the consulting side is clearly a big factor. IBM's revenue had been strongly supported by their service segment and continues to be their growth division.

The question is how the new company is going to change from just a boxmaker like DELL and GTW into a "full service" hardware vendor? DELL is obviously concerned about this and Michael Dell just yesterday made some statement that he is going to expose the high price server rip off. Though is high demand, service is labor intensive and the profit margin much lower than what CPQ had historically commanded.

I have not read any good analysis on this subject. Do you, or better yet, your wife, have any information?
