You're right, Patrick. Wall Street earnings reporting is viciously biased on the upside. Continually recurring charges are buried in talk about operating income. Sharp drops in profits are buried beneath excited reports of "exceeding" First Call estimates. Clear warnings about next quarter's problems are buried in optimistic speculation about next year's prospects. In Micron's case, disastrous operating losses were buried by "earnings" consisting of selling its own assets. It really makes you appreciate the few people in the media who do their own work and cut through the crap instead of just printing press releases and the opinions of corporate shills.
