I'm responding to someone on this thread, can't find the exact post now, as I've been out for a few days.

I have a large position in I2, imo a great company. I was at Dell (although not involved) when the decision was made to go I2. Now, there was some confusion about why I2? Was it simply the default choice after the SAP disaster (Dell threw out SAP after spending 30MM or so). Of course the selection is limited in this extended supply chain area - I2 being the obvious choice. But beyond that, the product looks very good to me. Being in sw development myself, I can't believe SAP thinks that they are going to put a bunch of developers in a room and 'whip up' another I2 - no way! Oracle apps can win in the new virtual mfg environment with I2, SAP will be at a distinct disadvantage for companies that care about this, and an increasing number of them do. The only thing I can come up with is that SAP being a european company hasn't caught up with the new realities of (primarily US) manufacturing? Hard to believe, I know, but thats all I can come up with. Great for Oracle apps though.
