The land drillers may have had expectations lowered to the point where they will have a fairly easy time meeting or beating expectations, but I think their relative valuation still seems high compared with the shallow drillers -- unless we have a significant rise in oil prices and overall demand for drilling. In that case, ALL the drillers should do great, with the land and shallow drillers outperforming the deep drillers.

In the climate of relative uncertainty, I think ESV offers better value than the land drillers, particularly on the recent dip.

Thean, I am waiting to see where the end of the day takes us with ESV to determine if I want to take a trading position in addition to my investment. I may decide to wait for HAL and/or SLB.
