A few more variables to keep in mind. The lawsuit with Lexar. If SNDK lost, then potential big problems if intellectual property assets were threatened. Also, Intel and Toshiba's competing flash cards, miniature card and smart media. I am pleased to see the CF standard slot is being touted by manufacturers of PDAs, dig cameras, smart phones, etc... I just worry about Intel's muscle and ability to force design-ins with its miniature card standard. So far, CF is being welcomed with open arms.

I am extremely if not overly optimistic about SNDK. I have been in since it was 13, and do not plan to get out for a long time. I'd only be accumulating, but I've got no $$$ or margin.

Jerome -

"Click"

Here's my biased view. I dont think serious or amatuer photographers will want to bother with disk drives. Its one thing putting in a CF card into a slot, in fact its a bit like the early days of photography.

A disk drive is a whole different ball game.

1. Disk drives are mechanical and ALL mechanical things go wrong.

2. Disk drives don't like sand and water and moisture and vibration. Most amatuer and professional photographers encounter these environments daily.

3. You're in Central America on the holiday of your life or the assignment of your life. You've got your brand new d-camera nad its click and you've got some disks. You turn the whole thing on and it indicates that the disk drive isn't working.....then what.

Now you could argue that the same thing could happen with the CF. But my experience has been that I haven't seen a PCMCIA slot go wrong very often if at all. And if its not the slot then its the CF card and I carry another or more with me. Yuo can't carry two built in click drives ...you could carry two external click drives but who would???

That's not to say they won't sell any. I'm sure they will but the market is expanding and SNDK's capabilites are improving and in any case I've been saying for some time that d-cameras are not SNDKs biggest market. Where the SNDK market is click can't go!!!! You can't put a click in a product that is trying to get smaller and smaller and whatever that friendly and helpful Kodak employeee had to say about his friends in IOM no-one is goiung to put a click in a phone!!!

Sorry I'm biased.

Regards as ever,

L
