>>I'm curious as to what kind of time period you have established for your RMBS holding, if any.<<

I will hold Rambus until the fundamental story changes. The types of events which could cause me to sell Rambus:

o A viable technical alternative is developed for the
microprocessor/DRAM bandwidth gap. This alternative
would have to be not just a patch but a technology
which is scaleable upwards (necessary due to processors
being ruled by Moore's Law).

o Rambus lowers their royalties below 0.5% (from 1.5% today)
without showing a plan on exploiting the embedded market
(i.e., have correspondingly higher revenues to compensate
for the decrease in margins).

o At some point before the year 2003-2005, I believe that
Rambus will have to develop a strategy associated with
"smart memory" -- embedded processing on the memory device.
In that time frame, if I don't see anything to push them
to the next level past their strategies today, I would
consider selling. Of course, that's an extremely long
time from now in this industry...
