It's a sad day when beating a loss estimate is cause for a big bounce - let me see how this logic goes:

1. Man starts company.
2. Man pays self $100,000 assuring losses
3. Man takes pay cut and pays self only $80,000
4. Losses are only 80% of forecast
5. Man becomes billionaire on Wall Street.

I'll admit though - it is fun to watch.

You have to look a little bit closer to the numbers:

Quarterly Earnings XCIT

Dec 1997 - 0.22
Mar 1998 - 0.28

That doesn't look like a new tankload for the XCIT afterburner ....

Unbelievable! I sold 2000 shares at the open after YHOO announced earning. So far I missed profit of 45,000+ in just couple of days. More than doubled in three days. Is foundamental changed in three days? I have my money ready to step in short it when bad news occurs.
