NYSE suspends and applies to delist Marvel

NEW YORK, April 17 (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange said Friday it suspended trading in Marvel Entertainment Group Inc's common stock, effective immediately.

The NYSE also said in a press release it will apply with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to delist Marvel's stock.

The NYSE said Marvel's net tangible assets of less than $12 million available to common stock and its average net income of less than $600,000 for the last three years falls below the NYSE's criteria for continued listing.

On December 27, 1996, Marvel filed a voluntary petition for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
