Net revenues for the first quarter were $31.9 million. In the prior year first quarter, net revenues were $37.0 million, and included a single sale to an existing end-user customer that contributed more than $8 million in revenue. Net income during the period was $0.6 million, or $0.06 per share, compared with $3.5 million, or $0.35 per share, during the first quarter of 1997. Cash and cash equivalents at the close of the first quarter totaled $61.0 million, down from $70.8 million at the close of the fourth quarter, as a result of the $11.0 million cash acquisition of First Service during the period. ''While remaining profitable, we continued to build momentum for our Cyberprise(TM) strategy with the release of the Cyberprise Server, Cyberprise Host, Cyberprise Data and Cyberprise Tools product categories,'' said John Wall, Wall Data's Chief Executive Officer.
