Judy.... I could not have said it better That is EXACTLY the reason I decided to post my picks of next week "earnings plays" by tomorrow market close instead of Saturday as planned. But I have always posted them about 1 week in advance anyhow. I myself DO buy the plays up to a week in advance, but now I think that was not the case with some of the posters to this thread, especially the newer ones. In fact I'm still playing "SEBL" on last quarter's earnings!!! as well as AEOS, SAVLY, MCRL. Tom's post made me see that his perception was that the plays might have been construed to be made one day in advance of earnings, when in actuality I've played this Friday's plays on Monday/Tuesday.. and will be playing Wednesdays plays tomorrow (i.e. IMRS, JAII, IMRS, some of the highlights from last week). This all depends on the market momentum however and the particular stock, it's technical chart, etc.

Since a large percentage of the "earnings plays" turn our very well, it was just by chance they played out in a time frame of about 1-2 days before earnings. Another thing, Judy, is that the ones that did not ultimately reap gains (TXT, GDT,)on the day prior to and after played themselves out LAST WEEK and did not show the volume/price increase to call them BUYS the day or two before earnings. In fact they were OVERBOUGHT for days.

That I find is same scenario Earnings Season after Earnings Season. I lost interest in PIR very quickly and did not purchase GDT options before they reported. LGTO, STLY, and LIN however showed the necessary volume/price increase that brought them into BUY territory. Ultimately same thing happened with ETH.. IT never became a BUY.

So if you use the case for GDT, TXT you will note they had consecutive days of upswing over ONE WEEK prior to earnings. I had a nice play in GDT then. TXT I had to wait for over 2 weeks for it to correct so I get in. But I got out well BEFORE earnings came out. I waited to get in yet again, but the moment was never right.
