I grew up in the 50s and 60s, and I am a traditional analyst. Robert Edwards and John Magee published their first book on Technical Analysis of Stock Trends" in 1948. Their book is now in its seventh edition and includes information on many of the newer TA tools. It is available in many technical bookstores and costs about $80. If you really want to understand TA, this is the place to start.
