In retrospect this market will be marked by at least three very silly hallmarks:

1) Split mania -- ala Wade Cookies and their beepers
2) Mergers and acquisitions based on the already inflated value of stocks -- with the result that both companies stocks go up in value after the announcement
3) Stock prices which are based upon good expectations further and further out in time -- Internet stocks being the prime example (some people say flight to quality and they really mean it!)

Oops, one more:

4) An unwarranted and excessive infatuation with information technology (Don't get me wrong there have been very real productivity improvements, but spending is going to surpass what is economically justified by along shot.)

These will all be seen for the silliness that they are after the BK.
