I should not speak for Pat Mudge, but from her posting on ASND I know she likes ASND and NN for ATM switch technology. As she said she'll be back on Friday, and should be able to give you a more complete answer.

I am in Ciena and Ascend, with each being in a different part of the cloud. While we watch the Internet stocks like Yahoo, Seek, etc. go up like mad, sooner or later the market will figure out that they require backbone and communication hardware to handle that growth. I heard a report this evening that the internet is doubling every 100 days.

I am hoping we're next.

Fast cars without highways don't go anywhere. We make highways, Yahoo et al make fast cars....

Dennis

Speaking only for myself. I would strongly recommend you look at CSCO, CSCO, and CSCO. I'm not yet long on Ciena, but looking to enter. Missed a big chance a few days ago. :-(

CSCO long,

Chris

Jana

Read Geoffrey Moore's book "The Gorilla Game" and follow his advice carefully.

Jana --

I actually responded to your question last night from the hotel business center computer and it freaked and my post disappeared. Sort of humorous when you consider the companies I'm backing.

Okay, my list of "select others:"

Like Dennis said, ASND and NN are my two ATM picks. After that I have CIEN for fiber backbone; CSCO as a nod to conventionality (small position); CKEYF for their network management systems (spinoff from NN); TXN for DSPs (45% of market with no close second); SSPIF for their complete DSP systems with heavy concentration in wireless basestations, radar/sonar, surveillance, and RAS; CYMI for their Deep Ultraviolet Photolithography equipment for submicron chips (again, market leaders with somewhere between 40 to 60%); ALA for their aggressive stance with ADSL; ANIC, the "down and dirty"suppliers to wired, wireless and cable companies; and CKFR because they're the leaders in e-billing and this is the future.

I admit I'm early with some of these, but I'm also patient.

Perhaps since we're now officially into the week-end, others will give their top plays on the Internet-spawned voice-data convergence.

Thanks for asking.

Pat
