Robert,
I am not certain I am that positive either. I wonder what the increased cost structure will be. I am also concerned that it has been so weak in sales when most pc companies were showing increases. I was at least encouraged by the backlog and the relatively strong statement about current year growth. But net income per dollar of sales is almost non-existent. I plan on at least seeing what the next quarter brings. My overall cost average is in low to mid sevens. But that was established over a year ago on most of what I own. I even have a little at over 8. The thing what has kept my interest is the low pe and the fact that the company could have a major increase in earnings if it can turn sales around and control costs. Good luck.

Robert,
Lehman has a recap of the conference call on their web site if you want to read it. Doesn't say much new. They did lower earnings slightly for quarter 2 because of lower expectations for service growth. They used the low end of Anderson's estimates for their expected growth for the year. Stated at current valuation should not be much down side risk.

I got First Call fax from Schwab today showing estimates of Compucom. The fax showed about 6 brokers dropping current year earnings estimates. The consensus estimates are now less than 1997 earnings. I am supprised the stock held up at all. If CMPC supprises on the upside should be very positive for value. I will be interested if SFE discusses it during their conference call tomorrow. Lehman's report mentioned consolidation in industry. SFE indicates that it will let it's ownership drop below 50%. I wonder if they might try to sell it. Pure speculation on my part, but I doubt sfe is happy with its performance.
